SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL SHERIFF’S AND WATCH THEM RUN!

Relay teams running in this weekend’s Reno-Tahoe Odyssey, a 178-mile run around the Reno and Lake Tahoe will be facing stiff competition again this year. The Washoe County Sheriff’s Deputies Association, winners in the corporate category two years running are in it again. Reno Lawn & Landscape is proud to be local sponsor of the group as they try to beat last year’s time.

Sgt. Jeffrey Clark, one of the team organizers is taking it all in stride and is looking forward to the race. “We love the race and have a great time every year,” says Clark. “The nights are a bit cold, though,” he chuckles.

With twelve runners on the team, two women and ten men, the need for rugged vehicles to get around is a priority. That’s where Reno Lawn & Landscape comes in. The landscape company has organized the team’s transportation for the three day running ordeal. With the help of Enterprise Rent-A-Car the team has two new vans to haul runners and gear to each leg of the race. And with the help of Instant Sign Center of Reno, these rigs have sharp, smart logos sporting the team’s name the Green Machine.

“Supporting these types of events are exactly what we’re all about,” says Steve Fine, M.A.C. at Reno Lawn & Landscape. “Seeing these local heroes out there running for such a long stretch, it’s astounding. And then to donate the proceeds of the race to the Angel Kiss Foundation clearly shows this race is a class act no matter who wins this year.”

With 106 teams entered this year, the competition will be severe. Let’s hope our Sheriff’s Green Team can come through with another win.

Contractors board issues citations - RGJ article

Contractors board issues citations www.rgj.com Reno Gazette-Journal: "A Nevada State Contractors Board investigation led to three citations for unlicensed contracting activity."

The third fellow in this article by the RG-J cites how locals need to stay aware of non-licensed contractors posing as professional landscape installers.

While the cost savings might tempt you during these challenging times, services such as pavers are a lifetime investment and we can tell you how many jobs we've had to tear out every month just to correct sloppy installations. Thousands of dollars spent just to get your landscape back to 'square zero'.

If they're not a licensed contractor, be smart and don't follow through with the project. Call us if you need clarification on the bid. We'll help when we can.

Here's another RG-J article with another citation for an unlicensed landscape bid. We're glad the Reno Gazette-Journal is working hard at providing these public service articles to help homeowners. In fact, they provided some great information for doublechecking your latest landscaping bid..

From the following Reno Gazette-Journal article, May 21, 2009
Consumers can check whether a contractor is licensed by calling 775-688-1141 in Northern Nevada. License checks also can be conducted online at www.nscb.state.nv.us by clicking on the "Contractor License Search & Disciplinary Actions Search" icon.
