You may remember the old adage "Believe none of what you hear and half of what you see". Well. . . it definitely applies here! Many residents in the Truckee Meadows think it's a good idea to water at night as a defense against the heat of the day. That's simply not the case. Night and evening waterings can help promote fungus disease. Why? Because it lengthens the "wet period" of foliage, creating an environment that fungi love!Try to water in the morning if your schedule permits. Thanks to the Truckee Meadows Water Authority (http://www.tmh2o.com/), they have added an additional watering day this year and this should help you adjust your watering scheduling even more.
I'll post more about this new watering program soon. Say in touch...
